When we seek to discover the best in others, we somehow bring out the best in ourselves.

A loving relationship is one in which the loved one is free to be himself — to laugh with me, but never at me; to cry with me, but never because of me; to love life, to love himself, to love being loved. Such a relationship is based upon freedom and can never grow in a jealous heart.

I’m not really sure who’s going to read it and the impact it will have on people, but I just need to get this out of my system.
Recently, the Western Black Rhino just went extinct. I never thought I’d ever see a species be completely eradicated from the world, but it happened.  Great job, humanity.
This got me thinking about my beloved tigers.  There are around 3,200 left in the wild, in southeast Asia.  That’s honestly not a lot and they are still being killed for random outdated medicinal purposes as well as their pelts.
1) I’m sorry if this is insensitive, but have modern medicine that works just as well as ancient cures.  Use it.  Or find new traditional cures to follow that don’t involve the use of tiger blood.
2) Fake fur exists for a reason.  If your home really cannot be completed without the addition of tiger skin, invest in fake fur.  It’s legal, to boot.
Without our brains, we would be literally nothing.  Evolution was not meant to factor in the invention of the AK47.  Without our weapons, we would have been extinct in a flash just because we are a physically weak species compared to everything else in the world.  If one of your family members was dying because of you, you would try to save them.  It’s a simple analogy: house is to family as Earth is to all living things.  These beautiful animals are dying because of humans and our efforts to save them are being completely canceled out by the ignorant people who have not gotten the message yet.
I never want to turn on the TV to see “Tigers Extinct” on CNN.  I don’t want my grandkids to have to look at pictures of tigers the way I look at pictures of dinosaurs.
“But wait,” you say, “dinosaurs didn’t go extinct because of humans.”
That’s right, they didn’t.  They went extinct because of asteroids/volcanos/the ice age (props to me for paying attention in elementary school science).  Without doubt, shit happens.  It happens every day.  But by causing the extinction of these beautiful animals (tigers, polar bears, coral reefs, pandas, penguins, etc.), humans are the shit that happens.
So we are posed with a choice.  We could either be the shit that happens.  Or, we could fix it.
